"No Mandalay, No Maymyo" (79 Survive); A fascinating talk by Captain Gerald Fitzpatrick. He is one of only 79 British soldiers to escape Burma (Myanmar) alive in 1942. Part of Britain's so-called "Forgotten Army" he was 22 years old when he was sent to join British forces in Burma. During his trip to Asia Japan officially declared war on the allies and had bombed Pearl Harbour. So when he arrived the British forces had to escape as quickly as possible from the advancing Japanese troops.
Now 81 years old he will be giving us a special preview-talk about his experiences, which are about to be published in a new book.
